The Pázmány Péter Unified Dormitory currently operates at two locations, in two separate buildings: both the main building, the Pázmány Péter Dormitory, and the St. Magdalene Sophia Barat Memberdormitory warmly welcomes  Pázmány students.

 

Pázmány Péter Dormitory

(Bihari building)

The main building of our Dormitory is the Pázmány Péter Dormitory (or, as the students call it, “the Bihari”), located in Kőbánya at the corner of Bihari and Balkán Streets, within walking distance of the Ecseri út metro station (Tram No. 3 stops right at the building’s entrance).

This building also houses our university’s colleges for advanced studies students, which fosters a vibrant intellectual and cultural life. The large lecture hall on the ground floor serves as a venue for colleges for advanced studies lectures and classes in the afternoon, and for movie nights, sport match viewings, and student parties in the evening.

 

Layout of the living quarters:

The building is organized into apartments; one double room and one triple room make up an apartment—a separate, small unit that is like a home. Each apartment is equipped with its own kitchenette (countertop, refrigerator, kitchen sink with dripping tray), a dining table in the shared living area, as well as a bathroom and a separate toilet.

 Each room is furnished with a bed, nightstand, wardrobe, wall shelf, and a desk with a chair for every resident. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and furnished exclusively with single beds; there are no bunk beds in the building.

 

Common Areas:

• communal kitchen (equipped with oven, stovetops, and microwaves);
• laundry room (professional, industrial washing machines and dryers);
• study room (study desks, computers connected to the university network);
• lecture hall (whiteboard, projector for colleges for advanced studies classes and lectures; foosball table, beanbag chairs for recreation and community programs).

 

 

In the garden:

• smoking and picnic tables
• bicycle storage and bike repair stand
• outdoor fitness area (under construction)

 

 

St. Magdalene Zsófia Barat Memberdormitory:

(Múzeum Building)

Two-bed rooms: 9 (in apartments for 2 or 3 people)

Single rooms: 14 (in apartments for 2 or 3 people)

 

A historic building in the heart of the city center, close to Kálvin Square and the buildings of the Faculty of Law and Sophianum. Thanks to its excellent location, it has long been a favorite among our international students, and to this day, they make up the majority of the building's residents.. The building is filled with an international atmosphere, as we have students from all over the world. It is recommended for those who are open to the world’s diversity and eager to learn about distant cultures.

The neighborhood, the Palotanegyed (Palace District) in Józsefváros, is an important university, cultural, and tourist hub of the city, full of tiny squares, pedestrian streets, outdoor dining spots, cafés, and bars.

 

Layout of the living quarters:

The three- and four-bed rooms form self-contained apartments, while the single and double rooms are arranged into apartments for two or three people. The three- and four-bed rooms are equipped with bunk beds; if this is a dealbreaker for you, you should choose the other building. The single and double rooms are considered premium rooms and are available at a higher price exclusively to international students (and Hungarian self-paying students). Each apartment has its own kitchen (including a refrigerator, stovetop, and sink with a drainer), a bathroom/toilet, and its own washing machine.

 

Common Areas:

• Study room (equipped with: study desks, computers connected to the university network; and a projector for community programs).

In the courtyard:

• benches and picnic tables;
• bicycle storage.

 

Assignment of students to buildings

Applications for dormitory housing from international students are handled by the international offices within the faculties; you can find more information about it here: Application and Admission.  After the successful admission, we will ask each student which building, and, within that building, which room type they would prefer. It is important to note that we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all requests for a specific building or room type; therefore, we ask our students to be prepared for this uncertainty regarding housing assignments when applying.
