On the 6th of February, 2024, the President of Hungary, Katalin Novák, and the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, visited Pázmány Péter Catholic University. In their presence, the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) awarded an honorary doctorate to Bálint Kovács, head of the Department of Armenian Studies at the PPKE Institute of History.

During the ceremony, Rev. Mons. Géza György Kuminetz, the Rector of our university, and Prof. Dr. Srbuhi Raphik Gevorgyan, the Rector of the Khachatur Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University, signed the agreement in the presence of the heads of state, which further strengthens the eight-year-old cooperation between the two universities. Pázmány will professionally supervise the operation of a Hungarian History and Culture Center to be established at the ASPU in Yerevan. The aim of the center is to educate and popularize Hungarian history and culture in Armenia and to further strengthen existing relations.

The ceremony ended with the presentation of the photo exhibition "Wall Paintings of Armenian Churches of the VII-XIII. Century", which can be viewed until 16 February at PPKE.

We warmly congratulate Bálint Kovács, our head of department, on the honorary doctorate title!
