On September 19, Azerbaijan launched a quick attack against the Armenian-inhabited Nagorno-Karabakh, which after 24 hours, ended with the capitulation of the local Armenian government. As a result of the blockade that preceded the renewal of the fightings and the fatal explosion in the fuel warehouse near the city of Stepanakert, a humanitarian crisis unfolded, as a result of which, locals were forced to leave their homes, and the area's 120.000 Armenian population is now almost entirely fled. In this difficult situation, Pázmány Péter Catholic University expresses its deep sympathy with the Armenian Christian students from the region, especially those, who lost their homes and loved ones during the fights. We join Pope Francis in praying for an early solution to this humanitarian crisis.
