On May 4 and 5, 2026, the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law in Canada hosted the International Association of Law Schools (IALS) “2026 Global Law Deans’ Forum,” at which our Faculty of Law and Political Sciences was represented by Dean Dr. László Komáromi.

IALS is a global organization whose primary mission is to provide a forum for discussing the state of legal higher education and its current challenges, as well as for sharing experiences and best practices, thereby contributing to the advancement of legal education.

This year’s Dean’s Forum focused on strategic issues related to the renewal of legal higher education, challenges arising from technological advancements, the teaching of international law in a fragmented and multipolar environment, the assessment of student performance, and ensuring access to justice. A total of six plenary sessions addressed these issues, with at least two and up to four speakers per session.

Our Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, which recently joined the organization, was represented by Dr. László Komáromi, Dean, who delivered a presentation titled “Curriculum and Pedagogy at the Law School of a Catholic University: Forming, Not Only Informing, Future Lawyers” in the section titled “Leading the Future of Legal Education: Considering Strategic Innovations in Curriculum and Pedagogy.” In his presentation, he sought to answer what remains fundamentally the same amidst technological changes (AI, LegalTech) that shape both legal roles and, consequently, the goals, methods, and curricula of legal higher education. As a central element of his answer, he outlined various approaches to teaching legal ethics and presented the concept and practice of virtue ethics developed at Pázmány Péter Catholic University based on a Christian view of humanity.
