Hello! My name is Suha, and I’m 22 years old. I’m originally from Syria, I am currently in my fourth year of studying Biomedical Engineering, I’m spending one semester at Pázmány Péter Katolikus Egyetem through the Erasmus+ program, and so far, this experience has been incredibly enriching, both academically and personally. On one hand, it’s a great opportunity to explore new perspectives in my field of study, while on the other hand, I’m part of an academic environment that is diverse and intellectually stimulating.               

Furthermore, studying in Europe has given me access to cutting-edge research and collaborative opportunities, which I’m eager to leverage in order to work on impactful projects. However, being an international student does come with its challenges—adjusting to a new academic system, overcoming language barriers, and adapting to cultural nuances in everyday life. One of the biggest hurdles I initially faced was the language barrier, but I’ve worked hard to improve my English, which has made communication much easier.  In addition, I chose Pázmány Péter Katolikus Egyetem because of its strong reputation for academic excellence, especially in engineering and the sciences, During my free time, I stay active by going for runs and occasionally hiking outside the city. While balancing academics with exploration can be challenging, I’ve learned to prioritize my tasks and make the most of my weekends and breaks.                                                                                       

Undoubtedly, Budapest is an incredible city for international students. The academic environment is excellent, and the city is very student-friendly, with affordable public transport and plenty of study spots. Indeed, it’s a vibrant place that offers so much to explore. Although studying abroad can feel overwhelming at first, I assure you that the challenges you face will help you grow in ways you never imagined. Therefore, don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it, and remember that it’s okay not to have everything figured out right away. After all, you’re not alone on this journey! I would highly recommend studying at Pázmány for its outstanding academic programs, supportive environment, and the chance to live in one of Europe’s most vibrant cities, stay organized—you’ll have a lot to do, but the experiences you gain here will be unforgettable!
