Tárgyleírás:

In the last two decades, a large number of neuroscience techniques have emerged or have undergone significant development. The different new imaging and electrophysiological recording techniques enable neuroscientists to study the brain and the nervous system in unprecedented detail, both in space and time. These new neuroscience techniques are now available also in laboratories that are closely connected to the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics. Depending on the number of students on this course, the students will have the opportunity to chose one or more of these laboratories where they will have to participate in a short, 3–4-day long research mini project. In these projects, the students will have the opportunity to design and perform experiments, as well as to analyze experimental results with the help of an expert mentor. Each of the mini research projects demonstrates a different neuroscience technique.

The research mini projects will demonstrate the application of the following neuroscience techniques:

Widefield optical imaging; 2-photon optical imaging (in vitro and in vivo); Fiber photometry; Optogenetics; Patch-clamp electrophysiology; In vitro high channel count electrophysiology; Immunohistochemistry
