On November 27, 2019, Rector of Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Dr Géza Kuminetz, and Vice-rectors Dr János Frivaldszky and Dr Csaba Szilágyi welcomed Ignatius Aphrem II, the Patriarch of Antioch, Supreme Head of the Syrian Orthodox Church, Nicodemus Dawud Sharaf, the Archbishop of Mosul, Boulos Safar, the Archbishop of Zahle, and Dr Rakan Razouk, Rector of Antioch Syrian University founded by the Syrian Orthodox Church. Dr György Fodor, Dean of PPCU's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Dr Balázs Major, Head of the Institute of Archaeology were present as well.
During the cordial meeting, the Rectors of PPCU and the Antioch Syrian University signed a cooperation agreement. As Ignatius Aphrem II stated, they are looking forward to the collaboration that has already begun with the Institute of Archaeology, and that they hope it will soon expand to other areas, particularly information technology and bionics.
All of this indicates that PPCU places great importance to scientific cooperation with and support for Christians in the Middle East, especially in warfare, which also enriches PPCU by experiencing the heroic perseverance of fellow brothers and sisters and their loyalty to their people and culture.
