Furthering PPCU’s inter-university cooperation in Kurdistan

PPCU has initiated academic and research collaborations in Erbil in 2013, and has strengthened its cooperation intentions of the highest level on the 3-4th of May, 2016, which first encompassed the advanced negotiations and the contracts enabling joint scientific work with the Salahaddin University, the Catholic University in Erbil and the Hamadia University, which has relocated from the war-zone to Erbil. In such framework PPCU’s archeological mission has completed significant excavations in the past three weeks with the lead of Dr. Balázs Major. Meanwhile our President has discussed various forms of cooperation based on preliminary agreements with the President of Salahaddin University, Professor Ahmed Anwar Dezaye, which included possibilities of greater student and teaching mobility numbers, broadening the fields of mutual programs and new coactions of the technical sciences. Regarding the Catholic University in Erbil, Dr. Szuromi has also laid foundation for the future Presidential visit of the partner President in autumn by completing the content and procedures details of the existing agreement of May. Another success is the seal of cooperation between the University of Halabja and PPCU, which was the result of the meeting between the two presidents on the 6th of November.  Both parties counted this event as of great significance in the development of higher education of the region that was hit by the Halabja chemical attack.
The solemn event was honored by the presence of Mr. Ali Osman Ali, Governor of Halabja and Mr. Csaba Vezekényi, the first Hungarian Consul General in Kurdistan. The President of PPCU has also paid a visit to the memorial ground of the victims of the Halabja Massacre.
