On May 22 the twenty-fifth St. Stephen's Book Fair, the largest Hungarian Fair of Christian publishers has been launched.

From 1993 onwards it has become a tradition that the head of the Saint Stephen Society and the chair of Saint Stephen Foundation – Cardinal Péter Erdő, archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest, and Antal Spányi, Bishop of Székesfehérvár – award the Stephanus Prize at the opening ceremony of the Fair.
The prize is given to authors who through their works (published in Hungarian) convey Christian values and culture and uphold the traditions of Christian Europe.
This year in literary category the Stephanus Prize went to French historian Pierre Riché who due to his old age could not attend the event personally. In Mr. Riché's absence, Hervé Ferrage, Director of the French Institute of Budapest, commended his merits.

The president of Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Dr. Szuromi Szabolcs O.Praem. was decorated with the prize in theological category.
The laudation of president Szuromi was delivered by Professor Bruno Esposito O.P., professor at the University of St. Thomas the Apostle of Aquinas.
